Nooch Toast and Soup

such an everyday staple

Even though I’ve been eating Nutritional Yeast (Nooch) Toast for years, it’s still just…*chef’s kiss*. Nooch has got a great, sharp cheezy flavor and just makes me feel right at home whenever I eat it. Pair with your favorite Soup and you’ve got yourself a pretty quick and nourishing dish. Though this makes a great afternoon or evening meal, don’t be afraid to make it in the morning for breakfast! It really hits the spot on colder days.

Feel free to use a canned, homemade, or frozen Soup. Pictured here is the Gardein brand Chicken and Rice Soup, and it’s friggin awesome. Once I get some Soup recipes honed in, I’ll link em here.

{Difficulty: Level 1} [Makes 1+ meal]

Ingredients

your favorite Soup
(I like Gardein brand soups)

1 + slices of your favorite Bread

Butter/Margarine
(I like Earth Balance brand)

Nutritional Yeast flakes

Garlic Powder or Garlic Salt (optional)

Equipment

Toaster

Microwave or Stovetop

Microwave-safe Bowl or Pot

Instructions

  1. Heat your soup till warmed through via Microwave (~2-3 min) or Stovetop (~3-5 min).

    • If you’re you’re microwaving, pour into a microwave-safe bowl and be sure to place something overtop (like a paper towel or Tupperware lid) to prevent your microwave walls from being covered in exploded veggies. Stir halfway through.

    • If you’re using a pan on the stove, turn to medium-low heat and stir every minute or so. Cover with a lid to speed it up, just don’t forget about it!

  2. While your soup warms, pop your Bread into the toaster or put in the oven on “low broil” (just don’t forget about it!).

  3. Slather one side of your toasty Bread with as much Butter/Margarine as your heart desires. Sprinkle a dash of Garlic Powder or Garlic Salt over the melty butter, if using, and top with a generous sprinkle of Nutritional Yeast flakes.

  4. Pour your Soup into a cozy bowl or mug if you haven’t already, bite into your crunchy Nooch Toast, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Even though this is paired with Soup for this meal, I should mention that Nooch Toast by itself is always delicious. I make it for breakfast, most days.

  • I’ve been enjoying the Gardein Brand canned soups lately, but Amy’s Brand is always a good stand-by, too.
