Bell Pepper and Jalapeño Beyond Dogs

Oh boy, if you’ve been looking for a Meatless Hotdog recipe that blows your socks off, you gotta make these spicy Beyond Dogs. They come together so quick in a single frying pan and the result is just phenomenal.

Like, I didn’t know how badly I missed just a good ol Sausage in a crispy Hotdog Bun till I made these. Feel welcome to substitute for other Meatless Sausages, but I highly recommend using this brand if you can get your hands on em.

This recipe makes 1 x Beyond Dog, so multiply the measured quantities for each additional Dog you want to make.

{Difficulty: Level 1} [Makes 1+ Dog]

Ingredients

1+ Beyond Meat Sausages, thawed*
(I like Hot Italian flavor)

~1/4 cup Frozen Bell Pepper strips
(I like the Trader Joe’s brand)

some Pickled Jalapeños (optional)

Salt & Pepper, to taste

Oil (optional)

1+ Hotdog Buns

Vegan Mayo
(I like Vegenaise brand)

Brown Mustard

Equipment

Stovetop

Medium to Large Skillet Pan

Oven or Toaster

Instructions

  1. Place your Beyond Sausages in a skillet pan and turn up to medium heat. Once you get a little sizzle out of em, drop in your Bell Pepper strips, Pickled Jalapeños, and a sprinkle of Salt & Pepper. I find that these bad boys fry up just fine without Oil, but feel welcome to add some in if needed.

  2. Keep sizzling away for about 7 minutes, stirring every once in a while and rotating your Sausage so it cooks evenly. Also, crack a window or turn on your oven vent. I always cry over cooked Jalapeños. (but really, the air can get pretty spicy)

  3. While everything cooks in the skillet, place your Hotdog Buns under the oven’s broiler on low or pop em in the toaster. Once they’re a little toasty, take em out and slather with a buncha Mayo and Mustard. Like I usually use a few heapin’ spoonfuls of Mayo, but follow your heart.

  4. Once your Sausage and Peppers are getting crispy and browned, pour em all out overtop your dressed up Bun. These can get a little messy to eat, so grab a spoon or fork, grab a bag of your favorite Chips, and dig in!

Notes

  • If you're feeling real fancy, brown up some sliced Onion with your Bell Peppers.

  • *If your Beyond Dogs aren’t thawed, you can still cook em in the skillet, but I suggest waiting a bit longer before adding the Bell Peppers and Jalapeños.

  • The Beyond Sausages come in packs of 4 and sell for ~$9-10. I think they’re a little spendy, personally, but well worth it for special occasions. The flavor and texture is truly unparalleled.
