Tofurky Sandwich

Burnout friendly meal — difficulty: level 1

so classic and so good

One of the best cooking tips I ever learned is that you should season your Sandwiches. Doesn't have to be complicated. A lil Salt or Pepper should do. But this recipe, and most of the Sandwiches I make at home, have a hearty amount of dried Dill to boost that flavor. And it's *so good*.

If you make Sandwiches all the time and you're like "I got this"— read thru the instructions and try arranging it in the way listed below. There really is a way to maximize the flavors of your Sandwich, and I think this recipe does a pretty good job of it.

That said— if you haven't tried Tofurky before, you may find it a lil weird at first. If you hate it or don't wanna risk it, substitute another Meat Alternative. Field Roast is *excellent*, but more expensive.

[Makes: 1+ Sandwich ]

Ingredients

2 slices Sourdough Bread

Lettuce

Tomato

Mayo
(I like Vegenaise)

Mustard

4-6 slices Tofurky
(or other meatless slices)

1-2 slices Cheeze
(I like Daiya, Chao, or Violife)

Dried Dill

Salt, to taste

Black Pepper, to taste

Equipment

Toaster

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients!

  2. Pop your Bread in the toaster. Meanwhile, slice your Tomato and tear Lettuce leafs to Sandwich-size.

  3. One toasty, spread Mayo and Mustard over each piece of bread.

  4. Generously sprinkle Dill, Salt, and Pepper over the Mayo.

  5. Now grab each Tofurky slice and fold in half. Layer them across one piece of bread, overlapping the ends slightly.

  6. Lay down the Lettuce leaves over the Tofurky.

  7. Now, tear your Cheeze into strips and lay across the Lettuce, overlapping slightly.

  8. Top with the Tomato slices and smoosh everything together with the other slice of Bread.

  9. And that's it! Cut into your fav Sandwich shape, toss on a plate, and serve with some Pasta Salad, Oven Fries, or your fav Chips. Maybe even a hearty Dill Pickle. Enjoy!!

Notes

  • Mix it up: If you're feelin real wild, add some Avocado or Tempeh Bacon. Swap out the Sourdough for your fancy Ciabatta.

what's your go-to sandwich recipe?

Personally, I love Sandwiches that have a good amount of texture to them. Like something with a bite, ya know?

But what are your favs? PB&J? A Club Sandwich? A BLT? If you're gonna make a Sandwich at home, I wanna know what you're gonna create. And if you order a sandwich from somewhere else, is it the same thing?

Lemme know in the comments!
